Last week, our family embarked on an unforgettable adventure, diving headfirst into the highly anticipated, brand-new THE LEGO® MOVIE™ WORLD at LEGOLAND® Florida Resort! My husband Jon, our excited children, and my brother Mark joined me for an exclusive media preview. It was an exhilarating day filled with thrilling new rides, delectable delights from Taco Everyday, and cherished encounters with beloved characters like Benny the Spaceman, Emmet, General Mayhem, and Wyldstyle. This vibrant expansion promised to transport us directly into the heart of the LEGO Movie universe, and it certainly delivered.
The moment you step into THE LEGO® MOVIE™ WORLD, the transition from the silver screen to a living, breathing theme park environment is absolutely seamless. This impressive expansion, developed in collaboration with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, is a true testament to the creative genius behind the beloved films. Guests are invited to immerse themselves in a world inspired by the global blockbuster THE LEGO MOVIE and its thrilling sequel, THE LEGO MOVIE 2: The Second Part. Featuring three groundbreaking new rides, interactive play areas, and unique dining experiences, this area promises an adventure for every Master Builder in the family. It’s an experience designed to spark imagination and bring the iconic stories and characters to life in an entirely new dimension. Every detail, from the vibrant colors to the intricate LEGO builds, pulls you deeper into the quirky, fun-filled world of Bricksburg and beyond.
THE LEGO® MOVIE™ Masters of Flight: A Soaring Adventure
Prepare for takeoff aboard THE LEGO® MOVIE™ Masters of Flight, a cutting-edge flying theater attraction that elevates the theme park experience to new heights. Here, guests are recruited as Master Builders and invited to join Emmet and his friends on the iconic Triple Decker Flying Couch, embarking on an epic journey across the vast and diverse LEGO® MOVIE™ universe. From the moment you buckle in, the immersive experience begins, combining state-of-the-art projection technology, dynamic motion, and wind effects that truly make you feel as if you’re soaring through Cloud Cuckoo Land, the bustling streets of Bricksburg, and even venturing into the Systar System. The attention to detail in the animated film sequences is phenomenal, making you feel like a character within the movie itself.
This exhilarating ride boasts a minimum height requirement of 40 inches or an age of 3 and up, making it accessible for many young adventurers. Each “flying couch” unit comfortably seats 12 riders, and with multiple units stacked three stories high, it’s designed for efficient throughput. While my exact guestimate of 72 people per cycle during the preview was merely an observation, what’s clear is that this attraction can accommodate a significant number of guests, ensuring that more families can embark on this grand adventure without excessively long waits. It’s an awe-inspiring experience that provides breathtaking views and an incredible sense of freedom, solidifying its status as a must-do attraction in THE LEGO® MOVIE™ WORLD. Unikitty’s Disco Drop: A Bouncing Blast of Joy
Get ready to unleash your inner Unikitty and experience pure joy on Unikitty’s Disco Drop! This vibrant and exhilarating ride perfectly captures the whimsical, often unpredictable spirit of Unikitty herself, transporting guests directly to the heights of Cloud Cuckoo Land. Riders are strapped into seats that ascend, drop, spin, and bounce with delightful unpredictability, all set to an upbeat, disco-infused soundtrack. The colorful environment, reminiscent of Unikitty’s fantastical home, adds to the overall experience, making every moment feel like a celebration of happiness and silliness. The ride’s unique motion profile offers a fantastic blend of thrill and fun, making it suitable for those who enjoy a bit of a drop without being too intense.
With a minimum height requirement of 40 inches, it’s accessible to many young thrill-seekers. Both Ryder and I absolutely adored this ride – the combination of drops and spins had us giggling with pure delight. However, be forewarned: this popular attraction only accommodates 10 seats per cycle, which means wait times can become quite substantial on busy park days. To minimize your wait, consider heading straight to Unikitty’s Disco Drop first thing in the morning when the park opens, or visit during off-peak hours like lunchtime or late in the afternoon. It’s a small price to pay for such a burst of concentrated joy and a truly memorable moment in THE LEGO® MOVIE™ WORLD.
Battle of Bricksburg: Splash into Action!
Prepare for an epic water battle as you join the fight to defend Bricksburg from the relentless DUPLO® alien invaders on Battle of Bricksburg! This exciting, interactive water ride invites guests to board a boat and navigate through a series of targets, armed with water cannons to spray down the invaders and help save the day. The core of this ride existed previously in the park, but it has been brilliantly re-themed to perfectly align with THE LEGO® MOVIE™ WORLD, adding layers of story and character integration that truly enhance the experience. The vivid colors and recognizable characters from the movies make this water-filled adventure incredibly engaging for all ages.
A crucial detail for families is that, unlike the other new attractions in THE LEGO® MOVIE™ WORLD, Battle of Bricksburg has no height requirement! This makes it the ideal ride for even the youngest members of your party, including 1 and 2-year-olds who might not meet the 40-inch minimums for other attractions. My husband, Jon, my brother, and Ryder had an absolute blast soaking the DUPLO aliens—and each other! While my two-year-old was napping, I sat out, but that didn’t stop me from joining the fun; I strategically positioned myself to spray water at them as they floated by, and they gleefully returned fire! Be warned: you will get wet! It’s all part of the fun, but consider wearing quick-dry clothes or bringing a poncho, especially on cooler days. This ride is a fantastic opportunity for the entire family to participate together, creating memorable, splash-filled moments.
Benny’s Play-Ship: A Universe of Fun for Little Astronauts
“Spaceship, spaceship, SPACESHIP!” Benny the Spaceman’s iconic catchphrase echoes through this fantastic play area, Benny’s Play-Ship, which has crash-landed right in the bustling heart of Bricksburg! This expansive, space-themed playground structure is an absolute delight for children, offering a safe and stimulating environment for them to explore, climb, and imagine. It’s impossible to miss with its vibrant blue, white, and yellow colors, standing as a central landmark within THE LEGO® MOVIE™ WORLD.
Designed with adventurers under the age of 10 in mind, Benny’s Play-Ship features multiple levels, slides, tunnels, and interactive elements that encourage active play. What truly impressed us, and no doubt countless other parents, is the thoughtful design that caters to adults as well. Even my almost six-foot-tall husband found it remarkably easy to navigate the structure when our two-year-old insisted on conquering the big yellow slide. The pathways are wide enough, and the climbing elements are manageable, allowing parents to comfortably supervise or even join in the fun without feeling cramped. Our kids happily spent a good half-hour here, burning off energy and sparking their imaginations, while we enjoyed a moment of relative calm or queued up nearby for Taco Everyday. It’s a perfect spot for children to unwind and play, making it a valuable addition to the park for families seeking a balance between thrilling rides and imaginative free play.
Emmet’s Super Suite + The Awesome Shop: Meet & Greet and Souvenir Central
No visit to THE LEGO® MOVIE™ WORLD would be complete without a stop at Emmet’s Super Suite, where you can literally step into Emmet’s apartment and meet some of your most beloved characters from the films! During our visit, we had the incredible opportunity to greet Emmet, Benny the Spaceman, the enigmatic General Mayhem, and the ever-cool Wyldstyle. The experience offers a wonderful chance for personal interaction, photo opportunities, and even a quick chat with your heroes. It’s a fantastic way to bring the magic of the movies even closer to home for the younger fans, creating lasting memories. Typically, two characters are available at a time, ensuring a rotating cast of favorites for return visits.
Following your heartwarming character encounter, the journey seamlessly leads you directly into The Awesome Shop. This vibrant retail space is a treasure trove for any LEGO enthusiast, brimming with an impressive array of merchandise inspired by THE LEGO® MOVIE™ universe. Here, you can discover exclusive THE LEGO® MOVIE™ LEGO sets, cuddly stuffed animals of your favorite characters, stylish shirts, cozy pajamas, unique clothing items, and a plethora of other souvenirs. Whether you’re looking for a special keepsake to remember your adventure or a gift for a fellow LEGO fan, The Awesome Shop has something for everyone. It’s the perfect place to extend the magic of Bricksburg long after you’ve left the park.
Taco Everyday: A Culinary Journey in Bricksburg
True to the movie’s delightful absurdity, “Don’t just taco on Tuesday, taco every day!” is the philosophy at Taco Everyday, THE LEGO® MOVIE™ WORLD’s dedicated quick-service restaurant. As a passionate food blogger, I approach theme park dining with a serious palate, and I was just as excited to sample these tacos as I was to ride the new attractions. Taco Everyday operates as a convenient window-ordering establishment, featuring ample covered outdoor seating, perfect for a casual meal amidst the park’s vibrant atmosphere.
The menu offers a focused selection of freshly prepared tacos on corn tortillas, each plate served with a side of crispy tortilla chips. Guests can choose from grilled chicken, smoky brisket, or a chilled krab salad option. Priced at $11 for two tacos or $14 for three, it offers flexibility for different appetites. For lighter appetites or younger guests, individual chicken, cheese, and shredded lettuce tacos on flour tortillas are available as a kid-friendly offering for $6 each, also served with chips. Enhancements like guacamole ($2) and additional tortilla chips ($3) are also on offer.
During our preview, the smoky brisket wasn’t yet available, so we eagerly dove into the grilled chicken and chilled krab salad tacos, accompanied by guacamole and chips. The grilled chicken tacos were an absolute triumph. With a generous squeeze of fresh lime, a dash of Cholula hot sauce, and a dollop of creamy guacamole, they transformed into an outstanding theme park meal. For a brief, blissful moment, I forgot I was in a bustling amusement park – the flavors were that good. The chicken was tender, the toppings fresh, and the overall balance of flavors was truly impressive. Unfortunately, the chilled krab salad tacos fell short of expectations; they primarily tasted like a vegetable slaw with a hint of seafood, lacking the dynamic punch one hopes for. Perhaps a fried fish option (or even a robust grilled fish) would provide a more satisfying alternative to the krab salad, offering a better texture and flavor profile.
Remember to save room for dessert! Sadly, we didn’t get the chance to indulge, but Taco Everyday offers Double Decker “Sofa-Pilla” Bites for $6. These delicate pastry bites, drizzled with cinnamon sugar and buttery honey, sound like the perfect sweet ending to your Bricksburg feast. Beverage options include bottled water, sodas, and for adults, Bud Light or Michelob Ultra for $7.50. Taco Everyday offers a fun and generally delicious option for quick, themed dining, with the grilled chicken tacos being a definite highlight.
