Finally, it was time for the joyous tradition of opening gifts. I truly wish I had a photo of our front room at that moment—it looked as though gifts had magically erupted everywhere! We were completely overwhelmed and felt beyond blessed by the incredible generosity of our friends and family.
Instead of traditional greeting cards, we kindly requested that our guests bring a book to help build the baby’s library. In the photo above, Jon and I are happily reading one of the cherished books given to us by my in-laws, envisioning countless bedtime stories to come. For those who might not know, we are huge Pittsburgh Steelers fans, and my parents made sure our grandson would be well-equipped with plenty of Steelers gear to wear during his first year! By the very end of the party, Jon and I managed to capture a photo together. We were both undeniably tired, but our hearts were full and we were absolutely over the moon. The day was a beautiful blur of laughter, love, and immense support from our family and friends. We were truly on a high from all the warmth and affection we received.
After everyone departed, I finally had a moment to put my feet up, and Lola, our sweet dog, immediately jumped onto my lap. It was the perfect opportunity to snap a photo of the adorable little whale bandana she had been sporting throughout the shower. This charming fabric will also be featured in our baby’s nursery, tying her into the theme as well!
I settled onto the couch for a long, much-needed rest. I was beyond sore and just as tired, if not more so, than Lola, who looked incredibly sleepy in this picture! It was a day filled with joy, effort, and an overwhelming sense of gratitude.
