Last but not least, I wanted to share a recent personal update concerning our beloved furry family member, Murphy. For those who follow along, you know Murphy is an integral part of our household, always bringing joy and companionship. Lately, we noticed something concerning with her left eye. It began to look a bit “lazy,” and we observed an increase in eye discharge, which we affectionately, if a little gross, called “pizza crust” or “eye crusties.” As any pet parent knows, changes in your pet’s health can be incredibly worrying.
Our concern led us to the vet, and after a thorough examination, Murphy was diagnosed with a meibomian gland adenoma – a benign (non-cancerous) growth of the eyelid. While benign, these growths can become uncomfortable, irritating the eye and potentially affecting vision, necessitating removal. It was a difficult decision, as any surgery for a beloved pet is, but it was the best course of action for her long-term comfort and health. Today, Murphy bravely underwent laser surgery to remove the growth. The procedure went very well, and we are incredibly relieved to report that she did great.
Coming home from the veterinary clinic, she was, as expected, quite sleepy tonight, resting comfortably as she recovers. Her well-being is our top priority, and we’re showering her with extra cuddles and quiet reassurance.
