Our patio serves as a cherished extension of our indoor living space – a perfect spot for everything from casual cookouts with friends to quiet, reflective moments of relaxation. As the holiday season draws near, it feels completely natural to infuse this beloved outdoor sanctuary with festive charm. Our expansive patio effortlessly connects to our newly finished basement, creating an open and inviting flow between indoor comfort and outdoor beauty. The large, retractable doors can remain wide open for much of the day, allowing a refreshing breeze to circulate and fostering a continuous sense of expansiveness. This seamless transition is made even more delightful thanks to our innovative Phantom Screens, which enable us to relish the invigorating fresh air without the unwelcome intrusion of insects. In fact, as I type these very words, those doors are wide open, and our sweet dog, Murphy, is enjoying a peaceful nap right by the threshold, looking just as content as she did when I captured these festive photographs. It’s a testament to how truly lived-in and adored this versatile space has become.

You’ve likely already noticed a distinctive and refreshing theme permeating our patio decor: a vibrant palette of turquoise, aqua, and various shades of serene blue. This signature color scheme forms the very foundation of our outdoor aesthetic, and for the Christmas season, we love to expertly weave in classic festive accents to create a harmonious blend. To introduce a warm, inviting glow, I simply placed flameless LED candles inside several turquoise-painted mason jars. These effortless DIY additions cast a beautiful, soft light, perfect for illuminating evening gatherings and creating a magical atmosphere. For a touch of delightful, unexpected whimsy, a charming miniature Christmas tree finds its temporary home nestled in the back of our vintage jeep, parked thoughtfully nearby – a playful nod to spreading holiday cheer wherever our adventures may take us.

When paired with a decorative wood sleigh, perhaps holding a few faux gifts or pinecones, and a scattering of additional candles, these pieces instantly evoke a warm, cozy, and deeply festive atmosphere. For that essential, vibrant pop of classic Christmas red, I strategically hung a beautiful berry wreath below an outdoor light fixture. This particular wreath holds immense sentimental value, as it was a thoughtful and cherished gift from my daughter many years ago, making its presence even more meaningful during the holidays.
The outdoor sofa table offers another fantastic opportunity for festive layering and display. Here, a charming lantern adorned with lifelike faux holly and bright red berries takes center stage, ready to cast a warm, inviting glow as evening descends. I also intentionally kept the updated candle stick that received a lovely makeover earlier this summer, now gracefully accented with a sprig of fresh evergreen or frosted berries to tie into the holiday theme.
