For this project, I picked up two generous bags of classic assorted gumdrops from Walmart, priced at an incredible 97 cents each. I decided to break up the two bags and spread the gumdrops around, allowing for more diverse arrangements and more decorated spaces throughout the house, maximizing the festive spread.

For larger containers or if you have fewer gumdrops, you might consider using a filler at the bottom, such as small decorative stones, sand, or even rice, to reduce the quantity of gumdrops needed while still achieving a full appearance.

Once your gumdrops are artfully arranged, gently nestle a candle into the center of each container. Ensure the candle is stable and stands perfectly upright within its gumdrop bed. Trust me, I won’t tell you how I know, but let’s just say dust, stale candy, and general atmospheric exposure throughout the holiday season don’t make for a delightful or even palatable snack. These gumdrops are purely for aesthetic enjoyment and should be treated as such. After the holidays, you can simply dispose of them responsibly. If you’re feeling particularly resourceful and they are made from natural ingredients, you might even find a way to compost them. The glass containers, of course, can be easily washed and reused for next year’s gumdrop decor, or for their original purpose, making this an environmentally conscious decorating choice.
