Celebrating Six Months of Creative Ventures: The Journey of reFresh reStyle

It’s a significant milestone, a moment to pause and appreciate the journey: my six-month anniversary of bringing reFresh reStyle to life beyond the digital realm. Since April, my collection of unique, hand-refurbished items has found a welcoming home at Two Women and A Warehouse. This period has been an incredible whirlwind of creativity, hard work, and rewarding connections, transforming a passionate hobby into a thriving small business venture.

From the outset, my vision for reFresh reStyle was clear: to breathe new life into forgotten treasures, turning neglected pieces into statement furniture and decor. Setting up my space at Two Women and A Warehouse was the crucial first step in making this vision a tangible reality, allowing customers to experience the quality and charm of each piece firsthand. It’s been an exhilarating ride, marking a new chapter for my brand and expanding its reach far beyond the confines of a blog.

One such detail, and a personal indulgence, was ordering custom hang tags. For anyone who knows me, my affection for beautiful paper products is no secret. These weren’t strictly a necessity in the grand scheme of things, but they felt like the perfect touch – a small, elegant detail that truly elevated the presentation of my items. They embody the care and attention poured into every single piece, and frankly, they were perfect… at least until the next captivating paper product catches my eye!

The Genesis: Taking a Leap of Faith

The journey of reFresh reStyle transitioning from a beloved blog project to a tangible retail presence felt like launching a ship into uncharted waters. I vividly recall the nervous excitement of those first few days, meticulously arranging each piece, hoping they would resonate with customers as much as they did with me. I am incredibly proud and happy to share that an astounding 97% of the items displayed in this very first photo found new homes. That initial success was an immense confidence booster, validating the hours of work and creative energy invested in each piece. As for the remaining 3%? Well, they’re probably enjoying a quiet sabbatical, buried somewhere deep within the organized chaos of my garage, awaiting their next transformation.

Stepping out of the familiar comfort zone of blogging and into the dynamic world of physical retail was a significant undertaking. I admit, I was a nervous wreck! There’s a unique vulnerability in presenting your creative work to the public in person, separate from the curated environment of a blog post. Each piece represents not just an object, but a part of my passion, and seeing them out in the world, ready for new owners, was both terrifying and exhilarating.

Once just a vehicle for daily errands, it has transformed into the workhorse of reFresh reStyle, hauling countless treasures from thrift stores, estate sales, and flea markets, and then delivering them, beautifully transformed, to their new display space. This photo captures just one of the many times I’ve loaded it to the brim, a testament to the continuous cycle of finding, transforming, and selling.

The quest for unique pieces is a thrill in itself. Every visit to a thrift store or flea market is an adventure, a treasure hunt where I envision the hidden potential in seemingly ordinary objects. Every artisan has their go-to strategy, and for me, especially in the early days, that often involved the “paint it white” philosophy. It’s a tried-and-true method that almost guarantees a sale, bringing a fresh, clean, and versatile look to any piece. I’ve done my share of these “safe” makeovers, turning humble items like a simple folding chair into a charming, sought-after accent piece.

As my confidence grew, so did my willingness to experiment with color and design, venturing beyond the dependable white. Painting it was an exhilarating process, but I admit, I got a little nervous when it took a few weeks to sell.
