Next on my list of essential party decor were the party hats! You might be surprised to learn how challenging it is to find solid black party hats in stores or online – I truly scoured the internet! This led me to the delightful decision of crafting both Mickey and Minnie hats myself, using my indispensable Cricut Maker. While I initially intended to add classic white buttons to the red Mickey hats, time, as it often does, slipped away, and they were never added. Despite this small omission, I believe they still turned out wonderfully charming and perfectly on theme! For these adorable hats, I used durable black and red Cricut cardstock, a trusty hot glue gun for secure assembly, and elastic on a spool for comfortable wear. The Minnie hats were adorned with bows made from vibrant red and white polka dot fabric, which added a lovely mix of texture and a classic touch. I followed a fantastic tutorial from my friend Kelsey on how to make boutique style bows, ensuring each Minnie bow was perfectly shaped. I especially loved the playful combination of structured paper and soft fabric. Thankfully, with only five little girls at our party, I only needed to make five Minnie Mouse party hats, making this a manageable and incredibly rewarding project.

It’s practically a tradition that I cannot plan a birthday party without crafting a coordinating t-shirt for the birthday child! DIY Iron-On Vinyl shirts are, without a doubt, my absolute favorite projects to create. For Reagan’s special “Two” shirt, I smartly reused the exact template I designed for her cake topper, showcasing the efficiency of Cricut Design Space – no need to reinvent the wheel when you have a perfect design ready! I opted for a chic black t-shirt, adorned with shimmering gold glitter for the “Two” and a vibrant red glitter bow, perfectly capturing Minnie’s signature style. In hindsight, I wish I had also incorporated the gold glitter for the cake topper to create an even more cohesive look across all the party elements. To flawlessly adhere the design onto the shirt, I utilized my reliable Cricut EasyPress 2 6×7. This powerful little machine ensures a professional, long-lasting finish every time. The entire process, from start to finish, took perhaps only 20 minutes, resulting in an adorable, simple, and perfectly personalized shirt for our two-year-old.
