Alabama Farmhouse Spring Tour: A Celebration of Cheerful Spring Decor

A Warm Spring Welcome: Our Entryway Refresh
Stepping into our home, you’re immediately met with a burst of cheerful color, thanks to these vibrant geraniums. While I don’t always feature geraniums right in the entry, these beauties found their way indoors after weeks of lovely 70 and 80-degree weather suddenly took a chilly turn, dipping below freezing. Bringing them in was a practical decision, but it also made me realize just how much a pop of bold red can truly transform a space, making it feel instantly more inviting and alive. It might just inspire me to introduce more touches of this spirited hue throughout the house!
The Heart of the Home: Our Inviting Living Room
After settling into our new Alabama farmhouse, moving from a previous home with three distinct living areas, we truly cherish having a single, spacious area perfect for entertaining and everyday living. It’s been an ongoing process, as I’m still enjoying the journey of moving things around, fluffing pillows, and refreshing decor to find that ‘perfect’ (and let’s be honest, perpetually evolving!) spot for everything. Transitioning furniture from one house to another presents its own unique set of challenges, leading us to declutter significantly through donations and sales. However, I couldn’t resist picking up four new chairs from Ikea—a purchase I certainly don’t regret!
Decorating with a palette of blues and greens instantly infuses our living room with a cheerful spring and summer vibe. In fact, I find myself drawn to cheerful colors all year long; they simply make me happy. Our home embraces casual furnishings and a playful mix of hues, creating an atmosphere of comfort and joy. Sometimes I ponder if, at my age, I should adopt a more serious or formal approach to decor. But having “been there and done that,” I wholeheartedly prefer a home that feels fun, relaxed, and incredibly comfortable. It’s a reflection of our lifestyle and what truly brings us joy.
Just recently, I updated the curtains in this room, choosing lovely coral/blush striped panels that add another layer of warmth. You can see how they beautifully integrate into the space in our recent post: Refresh Living Room Layout.
When designing this space, I intentionally started with a neutral base of white walls and gray-toned furniture. This foundation provided the perfect canvas for layering in splashes of color through decorative pillows, curtains, and unique accents. The moment I spotted this charming green poof (a fantastic find from Antique Farmhouse), I knew it was the missing piece to complete my vision, tying all the elements together with a playful yet sophisticated touch.
The brick on our fireplace is something I’ve been contemplating painting, but ever since we moved in mid-December, I’ve been immersed in so many other projects that it hasn’t risen to the top of my priority list. It’s a project for another day! One decision that required some thought was mounting the television above the fireplace mantel. Despite the initial debate, I absolutely love the seamless look it provides, creating a focal point that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
One of the most cherished pieces in our living room is this amazing water jug, lovingly made by my Mama during a recent pottery class. She is incredibly talented and always eager to learn new artistic crafts. Receiving this handmade gift from her fills my heart with joy, and I’m so grateful that we now live much closer, allowing us to share more moments like these!
Dining with Delight: Our Spring-Inspired Dining Room
Our dining room, which flows seamlessly from the living room, continues the theme of cheerful color and comfort. I extended the same striped curtains into this area, creating a cohesive and harmonious feel. Walking into this space, I’m always greeted by its colorful and vibrant atmosphere. The curtains were not only incredibly affordable but also remarkably easy to change out with the seasons—though I must admit, I might just keep this soothing spring decor around all year long! There’s an undeniable calmness and serenity that the colors of spring bring to a space, making every meal feel a little more special.
